Water Witching is also called Dowsing. The ritual of Dowsing uses a Y-shaped stick or two L-shaped rods to local water or any other object the dowser is searching for. There are many beliefs of what type of wood or metal works best in Dowsing.  Dowsing started in ancient times coming into vogue during the European Middle Ages and been introduced to many countries and cultures by immigration over the centuries. The ceremony is conducted by an individual in an outdoor area and consists of walking in a search pattern in either silence or by reciting a poem, or prayer.
